

The brain is an excellent anatomical specimen because it is a good representation of other mammalian brains including the human brain. Sheep brains come in three available options:
Student grade indicates a sheep brain without the hypophysis or dura mater (optic chiasma remains intact)
Partially extracted indicates a sheep brain with the hypophysis, but without the dura mater (cranial nerves remain intact)
Fully extracted indicates a sheep brain with both the hypophysis and dura mater remaining intact
